City Administration

CityHall600x494

The City Manager is the Chief Executive of the City of Oak Park and is responsible for the efficient administration of all City departments.

Among many responsibilities, the City Manager is charged with supervising all City personnel, the preparation and submittal of the annual budget, enforcing municipal ordinances, and implementing the policies and direction set by City Council.

City Manager Form of Government

The council-manager form is the system of local government that combines the strong political leadership of elected officials in the form of a council or other governing body, with the strong managerial experience of an appointed local city manager. The mayor is a member of the elected city council in this form.  The form establishes a representative system where all legislative authority is concentrated in the elected council and where the council hires a professionally trained city manager to supervise all city staff and oversee the delivery of public services.
