ALDI Reopens After Remodel

>

October 12, 2017, Oak Park, MI  -  ALDI Inc., a leading grocery retailer, held a grand opening ceremony today at 8:30 a.m. to celebrate the remodel of its Oak Park location. The Oak Park location is part of a $5 billion investment to open new stores and remodel existing stores nationwide. Specifically, ALDI USA will invest $1.6 billion to remodel more than 1,300 U.S. stores by 2020 and $3.4 billion capital investment to expand from 1,600 to 2,500 stores by 2022.

“More than $28 million will be dedicated to Detroit-area stores, including our Oak Park location. With this significant investment in our stores, what we’re really doing is continuing to invest in ALDI customers – bringing people who know and love ALDI, as well as new fans, an even better, more welcoming store to shop,” said Ryan Fritsch, Vice President of the Webberville Division.

ALDI Oak Park which employs approximately 15 to 20 people at the 26300 Greenfield Road location, has been closed since September 4 for remodel. During today’s grand opening ceremonies, participants were able to enter to win free produce for a year, sample ALDI products, and receive a free ALDI eco-friendly bag, while supplies lasted. The first 100 customers were given a chance to win a Golden Ticket worth up to $100.

“Our newly remodeled Oak Park store delivers a modern and convenient shopping experience with more room for customers’ favorite products and a focus on fresh items, including more robust produce, dairy and bakery sections,” said Fritsch of Oak Park's location that now features five aisles and 12,000-square-feet of retail space - nearly 2,000-square-feet larger than the store's previous layout. “Its modern design also features open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials – such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.”

“We pioneered a grocery model built around value, convenience, quality and selection and now ALDI is one of America’s favorite and fastest growing retailers,” said Jason Hart, CEO in a June press release. “We’re growing at a time when other retailers are struggling. We are giving our customers what they want, which is more organic produce, antibiotic-free meats and fresh healthier options across the store, all at unmatched prices up to 50 percent lower than traditional grocery stores.”

Through this new initiative, ALDI Inc. hopes to serve 100 million U.S. customers per month with the most frequently purchased grocery and household items, most of which are exclusive brands.

Thank you ALDI for investing in Oak Park!
