Composition
The Board has seven members, including five residents that are representative of the population distribution and of the various interests present in Oak Park, one member of City Council and one member appointed by the Planning Commission.
Terms
The Board Members serve three years that expire in August 31.
Meeting Dates and Times
The Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m as needed.

Purpose
Administrative Appeals: To hear and decide appeals from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an
administrative official charged with the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance. There shall be no appeal to the Zoning Board of Appeals from a decision of the Planning Commission or City Council approving or disapproving a Special Land
Use. Interpretation: To hear and decide requests for interpretation of the Zoning Ordinance and official Zoning Map. Variances: To authorize upon application in specific cases such variance from the terms of the Zoning Ordinance as will not be contrary to the public interest where, owing to special conditions, a literal enforcement of the provisions of this ordinance would result in a practical difficulty or unnecessary hardship.
