The seven-member Zoning Board of Appeals hears and decides appeals of administrative interpretation of the Zoning Ordinance and requests for variances from the strict application of the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance. A home-based business is an occupation, activity, or hobby that is traditionally or customarily carried on within the walls of a dwelling unit, such as sewing, millinery, and similar domestic crafts, instruction in a craft or fine art, offices or self-employed professionals, sales representatives and the like, and educational tutoring (e.g. music lessons and tutoring of students) provided that such traditional or customary home occupations meet all criteria to be a permitted use. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the City of Oak Park Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 7:00 p.m., or thereafter, held in City Council Chambers, 14000 Oak Park Blvd., Oak Park, MI.
The Public Hearing Will consider: Case #22-001: Jeffrey and Phyllis Meer at 24640 Radclift Ave., Property ID # 52-25-30-128-008, have made an appeal to the Zoning Board of Appeals for a variance from the provisions of Article 2, Division 2: Residential Districts of the Zoning Ordinance to allow for an addition to the main dwelling that does not meet the lot coverage and rear yard setback requirements of the Zoning Ordinance.
The variance request can be reviewed at the Economic Development and Planning Office located at 14300 Oak Park Blvd., by appointment, call Kim to schedule (248) 691-7404. The public may appear at the Public Hearing in person or by counsel. Written comments should be addressed to: Chairperson, Zoning Board of Appeals, 14300 Oak Park Blvd., Oak Park, MI 48237, and must be received prior to the Public Hearing.
