City Charter and Code of Ordinances

CharterOrdinances600x358

The City's Charter with its Code of Ordinances are the two documents that dictate how the City operates. Under state law, the City of Oak Park is allowed to consolidate its rules, regulations and codes enacted into law by City government into a logical and sequential code of ordinances. These two documents are referenced when clarifying roles, processes and procedures.

The City of Oak Park publishes its Charter and Code of Ordinances through a service called Municiode. When City Council adopts a new ordinance, or a change is made to the City's Charter, the Code of Ordinance is updated to reflect these changes.
